The Most Incredible Orange Chocolate Truffles

image-72image-13
I have had many requests for my recipe for these absolutely mouthwatering yet healthy (who knew there could be such a thing) orange chocolate truffles. They are made with naturally wholesome ingredients and are free from gluten, dairy and refined sugar – making them entirely guilt-free ;)

If you can resist from accidently eating the whole batch at once, then kudos to you!

1 cup almond meal
10 medjool dates
1/2 cup raw cacao powder + a little more for coating
zest of one orange
juice of one orange

In a food processor, blend the almond meal, dates, cacao powder and orange zest to form a flour-like mixture. Add the orange juice and continue to process until the mixture starts coming together like a dough.

Using your hands, roll into bite-size balls (your hands may get a little sticky here).

To finish, coat the truffles by gently rolling the balls in the remaining cacao powder before transferring to a plate.

Best to refrigerate for a few hours before consuming but you won’t want to!

  1. I have just finish preparing (and yes, tasting) mine.
I had to use a hand blender which was not really up to the task of chopping the rather too dry dates. It took a bit longer to complete, that is all.
My only addition to your recipe was 1-2 ml of cold pressed grape seed oil.
I do not know exactly why I did that but it just seemed natural at the time.

    The result?

    Thank you, Anisa :)
