“I love my pizza so much, in fact, that I have come to believe in my delirium that my pizza might actually love me, in return. I am having a relationship with this pizza, almost an affair.” -Elizabeth Gilbert.
The above quote is my favourite line from Elizabeth Gilbert’s best selling novel Eat Pray Love. It is also the most accurate description of how I felt today. With absolute confidence and 100% certainty I can say Cafe Valentino has the best pizza in town. Hold on, I know what you’re thinking; that my review is bias because I work there – it’s not. And here’s why:
1.It would not make logical sense for me to promote CV. Heck, who would want their workplace to get busier?
2.Embarassingly (or impressively – whichever way you want to look at it), there is not a single pizza place in Christchurch that I haven’t tried. In other words, I know my stuff.
For lunch today, I had a Fantasia pizza. My goodness, it was a Mediterranean excursion in my mouth. The simple yet heavenly combination of spinach leaves, kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes and feta cheese was absolutely divine! I loved my pizza, I wanted to marry it. I am not exaggerating. Words will never describe how incredible it was. And so, I promise, after having pizza at Cafe Valentino, you won’t want pizza anywhere else!
So why is Cafe Valentino’s pizza so special you say? Ultimately, it’s a combination of several factors; it’s cooked in a legit wood-fried pizza oven, its base is thin and crispy (how true pizza should be) and the toppings are fresh and delicious. Plus, there are endless vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free options too! Oh yeah, they also do takeaways: “There’s no better feeling in the world than a warm pizza box on your lap.”-Kevin James
