Move over Baretta, The Cook Brothers have taken the ‘outdoor area’ to a whole new level! (The roof, to be precise.) Engineers, Christchurch’s first roof top bar oozes character and cool. Now, what’s cooler than being cool?
Ice cold. An open roof, fairy lights, real pot plants and a variety of tasty tapas; all tied together by an Arctic Monkeys soundtrack.
Stuffed pepper poppers / cream cheese / sweet chili sauce
Rice paper rolls / snow peas / cucumber / mint / nam jim dipping sauce
And if all that weren’t enough, the picturesque setting finally allows you the opportunity to reenact that romantic scene in Strictly Ballroom where Fran and Scott engage in some late-night Paso Doble to Cindy Lauper’s “Time After Time” on the rooftop. And by Paso Doble, I mean twerking and by Cindy Lauper, I mean Savage. Ok, jokes aside, Engineers is unquestionably top drawer (like, literally). The only aspect that makes me uneasy though, is the thought of a ‘white girl wasted’ losing balance and breaking a leg (or two) down their long flight of stairs… Here’s hoping I don’t have the evil eye.
